  • GolddiggerDaddy: i'm new to gold prospecting. Which method should I start with - panning? sluicing? or dry panning?
    May 13, 2013, 03:38:52 PM
  • Admin: Hello GolddiggerDaddy & welcome :)   Great question!  Everyone should learn how to pan, however using panning as the main prospecting method is not too effective.  One can only run so much material in a days time with a gold pan.  If you're running a sluice box or a drywasher, you'll have your concentrates to pan out, so yes knowing how to pan is a must.  We personally enjoy sluicing and drywashing.  Since the weather is changing, we'll start spending most of our time at the river sluicing, where in the winter we spend most of our time out in the desert drywashing.  Both methods can be quite effective.  I enjoy the river, the sound of the water, the refreshing feeling of the water and the beauty of the river!
